Update information on Construction of bomb shelter at Singu township (Safe classrooms)

On 31 October 2025, NMSP has transferred €2400 to the Yay Myat Village Committe, Singu township. The committee and the volunteers have decided to construct a bomb shelter in the Basic High School of Yay Myat Village compound where 60-100 children can seek as a shelter if the Junta fighter jets attack.

However, since November 2025, the military has launched large-scale offensives against liberated areas in preparation for holding a sham election. Because Singu Township is a strategically important liberated area, the junta forces could arrive any time and plans to build bomb shelters had to be postponed. If they had been built, the military would have destroyed them.

As everyone feared, in December 2025, the military carried out airstrikes on Singu Township and nearby villages and then recaptured the area. As a result, all the residents of Yay Myat Village were forced to flee to safer forested areas, and schools have also been closed. At present, it is still not possible to build bomb shelters, and regaining control of Singu Township remains very difficult. We will keep our donors updated on the situation. Thank you!

Update news after 28 May Myanmar Earthquate

A community-led response to the earthquake is the only answer, Khin Ohnmar april 28, 2025

The devastating Sagaing earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 added yet another layer of devastation to a country already in crisis. For many around the world, it may appear as the latest in a string of natural disasters. But for the people of Myanmar, it is another wound torn open in a nation already bleeding from the violence and oppression of a brutal military junta.

This moment demands moral clarity
In the wake of such devastating geological disaster, it is natural to want to help—to rebuild, to heal. But in Myanmar, healing cannot come without justice; recovery cannot be done without accountability. Rebuilding cannot happen while the rubble is still being created by this junta.
The people of Myanmar are not passive victims. They are leading their own resistance, organising their own relief and recovery, and envisioning and striving for their own future.
It is time the international community follows their lead—not the lead of the generals who brought this disaster upon them.

Relentless Junta Onslaught Demands Immediate Justice - Statement of Special Advisory Council (Myanmar)

28 April 2025: Today marks one month since the devastating Sagaing earthquakes struck Myanmar, killing at least 3,700 people, injuring close to 5,000, pushing 4.3 million people into urgent need overnight, and levelling homes and critical infrastructure.
This tragedy compounded an underlying catastrophe – a military junta war against the people that over four years has claimed thousands of civilian lives and plunged tens of millions into poverty and suffering.
